Ashley N Long
Head Coach
Ashley Long, was the founder, owner, manager, and Head Coach of Sanford Aquatic Club. She is a Graduate of Johnson University. Ashley began her swimming career with Hargrave Military Academy at the age of eight. She swam on their team for several years until her family relocated to Sanford, NC. Ashley joined the Southern Lee Swim Team in high school and joined the Squids year round team under Greg Huff. After high school graduation, she continued teaching lessons and building her knowledge in and around the pool in college. During the summer of 2014, she was given the opportunity to coach for one of the largest summer league swim programs in the country, GKAISA in Knoxville, TN. Ashley was chosen as the Head Coach for Sanford Aquatic Club (prior name of Sanford Squids) along with becoming the Head Coach of Southern Lee High School in the 2014-2015 season. When Ashley accepted both of these positions at age 19, she was the youngest female head coach in the nation of multiple teams. In her first high school season as a coach, she brought four swimmers to Regionals and SLHS ranked ninth overall in Men's for the season. Three of those swimmers continued to States, some of which received personal best times! For the 2015-2016 season, she was the first Bolles School Sharks Intern under Jon Sakovich. Ashley spent her 2016-2017 short course season as a lead coach for the Marlins Of Raleigh working with their AG3 Black group. During her time with the Marlins, she had two Age Group Champs qualifiers whom both continued to sectionals. On of which placed tenth in the state for the 100 Breast at the age of 9. Ashley has now worked with two Gold Medal Clubs ranked by USA Swimming and looks forward to her future opportunities to share her passion for swimming with the world!
